About the role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the transformer value stream, you will play a key role in the product design of devices to monitor transformer health. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, customizing, creating prototypes, optimizing, and testing. You will be interacting with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, EE designers, manufacturing test engineers, and peers from the global R&D organization. Key Responsibilities: - Design complex components & assemblies with the customer in mind, focusing on Quality, Cost, and DFM - Utilize critical thinking for continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for innovation and process enhancements - Fabricate physical prototypes for proof of concept and testing - Conduct mechanical and structural analysis as needed (FEA using SolidWorks) - Present mechanical design concepts to project teams - Evaluate new components, materials, and manufacturing methods for application in new and existing products - Verify acceptance criteria are met, support transition to production, and perform failure analysis on problem areas - Document features, issues, and tests in compliance with internal processes - Derive configured product models from existing products - Perform Engineering Change Requests involving updating drawings and BOMs - Ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements - Conduct design reviews, assist in FMEA, PFMEA, and support root cause analysis for mechanical issues Qualifications Required: - Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field (Masters degree is a plus) - 5-7 years or more experience as a design Engineer - Extensive experience developing 3D CAD designs for parts and test fixtures using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar design platforms - Good grasp of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing standards and best practices - Ability to operate machine tools for prototype parts touch up, adding details, threading, polishing, and other operations - Experience in designs consisting of electro-mechanical and optical integration - Experience with DFM and processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal forming, and aluminum casting - Familiarity with JIRA and AI tools is desirable About Ralliant Corporation: Ralliant, originally part of Fortive, is now an independent public company driving innovation in precision technology globally.
