Senior Systems Engineer - Energy

As an Electrical Engineer at Ramboll in Chennai, you will be responsible for power system studies and various design/engineering activities related to HV primary, secondary, HVDC, Statcom, battery energy storage system, plant electrification, proposal activities, and more. Your key responsibilities will include: - Performing power system studies for Ramboll Energy, Chennai - Conducting design/engineering activities for HV systems including primary, secondary, HVDC, Statcom, battery energy storage system, and plant electrification - Executing proposal activities such as motor starting (static/dynamic), flicker and unbalance analysis, insulation coordination, lightning protection, earthing/grounding grid design, cable ampacity/thermal rating, and power quality assessments In addition to the above, you will also: - Develop and validate system models and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) from client/network data - Collaborate closely with primary/secondary engineering, protection & control, FAT/SAT, and commissioning teams - Support proposals/tendering with scopes, methods, estimates, and risk/assumption logs - Demonstrate expertise in software and tools such as ETAP, Python automation, PSSE, PowerWorld/CYME, MATLAB/Simulink, and more Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering; Master's/PhD preferred - 815+ years of hands-on power system studies experience, including HV substation (onshore/offshore) and LV/MV systems - Strong protection engineering background - Experience across sectors such as renewables, industrial, utilities, data centers, and transportation - Completed at least one offshore wind substation project including HV side and GIS panels - Excellent English skills, both oral and written Ramboll is a leading consulting firm focused on addressing the green transition and offering sustainable energy solutions.
