Role Overview: As a Development Engineer 3 at Comcast, you will be responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications. Your role will involve analyzing, testing, and assisting with the integration of new applications. You will document all development activity and provide training to non-technical personnel. With your in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in the field, you will usually determine your own work priorities and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conduct analysis to determine integration needs. - Design new software and web applications, support applications under development, and customize current applications. Assist with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases. - Participate in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications. - Research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports. - Monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products. Review literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. - Provide technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques. Serve as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers. - Work with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements. - Display in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty. - Display in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply process design and redesign skills. Present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences. - Display knowledge of and ability to apply project management skills. - Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. - Work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary. - Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
