Role Overview: As a Software Engineer at Red Hat's OpenStack Platform team in Pune, India, you will be an integral part of a distributed team focused on innovative software development and open source contributions. You will collaborate closely with team members and upstream developers to enhance the Virtualization component of the Red Hat OpenStack Platform and support the packaging, testing, and release processes. Key Responsibilities: - Contribute to the development of the Virtualization component of the Red Hat OpenStack Platform in both upstream and downstream environments - Collaborate on packaging, testing, and releasing the Red Hat OpenStack Platform - Maintain the Compute packages within the Red Hat OpenStack Platform - Assist in bug triage, root cause analysis, and issue resolution - Provide support to customers and partners Qualifications Required: - 2+ years of software engineering experience - Proficiency in Python programming and Git - Familiarity with Agile Development practices and Scrum - Strong written and verbal communication skills in English - Ability to thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments - Independent working capabilities - Passion for open source software development - Experience with task management tools like Jira - Bonus skills include knowledge of virtualization technologies, Linux system administration, Linux distribution packaging, Ansible, CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Zuul, RPM Package Manager, debugging skills, SELinux knowledge, and familiarity with containerization technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Podman, or Docker Company Details: Red Hat is a global leader in enterprise open source software solutions, leveraging community-powered approaches to deliver top-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
