Job Description Senior Solar Design Engineer Job Title: Senior Solar Design Engineer Department: Engineering / Design Reports To: Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering Job Summary We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Solar Design Engineer to lead the design and engineering of rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV projects. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in solar system design, electrical engineering, project optimization, and industry standards while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project execution. Key Responsibilities Design rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, string layouts, cable routing, and earthing layouts. Perform site feasibility studies and analyze project requirements. Conduct energy generation simulations using software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar tools. Design AC/DC electrical systems in compliance with IEC, NEC, CEA, and local regulations. Optimize system sizing for maximum performance and cost efficiency. Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, and engineering documentation. Coordinate with project, procurement, and installation teams for smooth execution. Review and approve engineering drawings prepared by junior engineers. Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 58 years of experience in solar PV system design. Strong knowledge of rooftop and utility-scale solar projects. Experience in designing systems for commercial and industrial solar installations. Required Skills AutoCAD PVsyst Helioscope Microsoft Excel SketchUp (preferred) ETAP (preferred) Knowledge of HT/LT electrical systems Understanding of net metering and grid interconnection requirements BOQ preparation and project estimation Key Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and coordination abilities Attention to detail Leadership and mentoring skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Preferred Experience Experience with MW-scale solar projects. Familiarity with CEA, DISCOM, IEC, and MNRE guidelines. Experience in EPC solar companies is preferred.
