About the role
Role Overview: As a Senior Data Engineer at Roche, you will be responsible for leading, designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines and infrastructure. Your role will involve independently building ETL/ELT processes, optimizing data storage solutions, ensuring data quality and reliability, and monitoring data systems. You will collaborate closely with data scientists and analysts, utilizing strong programming skills in Tableau, Snowflake, Talend, Python or Scala, expert SQL knowledge, and proficiency in big data technologies like Spark. Your background in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry will be crucial, especially if you have experience working within Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, or Pharmacovigilance/Safety teams. Key Responsibilities: - Independently lead the design, build, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines for specific data engineering projects - Solve complex data ingestion and processing challenges, optimizing data flows to enhance system performance and reliability - Partner with business units and data scientists to understand data requirements and bridge technical execution with non-technical business needs - Own large-scale data engineering initiatives, implementing robust strategies to modernize and strengthen the organization's data infrastructure - Manage large, intricate data ecosystems by integrating diverse data sources to ensure efficient cross-platform data flows Qualifications Required: - Demonstrated experience in owning major data engineering initiatives and managing high-volume enterprise data systems - Proven track record of independently architecting, building, and maintaining automated ETL/ELT data ingestion and transformation processes - Hands-on experience in designing and optimizing modern data storage environments for peak performance and cost efficiency - Expertise in implementing rigorous data quality checks, data cleansing rules, and reconciliation frameworks across all pipelines - Strong experience in building robust monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for continuous high availability and minimal downtime of data workflows Company Details: Roche is dedicated to advancing science and ensuring access to healthcare for everyone.
