Job Overview: The Software Engineering Specialist designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for new products, new features and software enhancements. You will contribute to Rocket products in the Continuous Modernization Suite. It is a comprehensive solution for IBM I / mainframe modernization that improves users' productivity, while easing the skills shortage. One of the products in this Continuous Modernization Suite is Rocket Modern Experience & API – an enterprise platform that helps customers modernize their legacy applications and create APIs or modern UXs without making any disruptive changes to the application itself. It helps put legacy applications to work in new ways – as mobile & web applications and web services for internal and cloud initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Mastery of software systems (building and running them too) Proficient at complex programming, exercising independence and discretion while working independently or as part of a team. May lead a team on short or long-term projects as needed. Act as the technical subject matter expert for a product domain and may act as the technical leader within a team. Works independently to create new products, new features, implement software enhancements, correct defects. Set the direction for design and implementation of software features/functionality, correction of defects and/or creation of new products Documents and communicates on complex technical topics outside the immediate development team May interact with customer users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications History of success working within a team environment Required Qualifications/Experience Typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of related experience Excellent designing, coding & debugging skills Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable distributed application Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns. Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application Ability to write clean, concise, understandable code Proven working experience in Java development / Spring / Spring boot and MVC Good exposure to C++/VC++ and corresponding IDEs (willingness to contribute to c++ components) Awareness of Application security, OWASP / 12 factor apps Multithreading, memory management in code, performance aspects Experience with popular web servers like Apache Tomcat Experience in JMS, JSON documents Experience with SQL Databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) including JDBC Experience with File Transfer protocols (FTP, SFTP) Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems Proficient understanding and experience of code versioning tools, such as Git Experience with test-driven development using Junit, Mockito Some experience in / or a willingness to learn new technologies e.g. Docker, Kubernetes Experience with Windows Schannel API (SSL) Proficient understanding and experience of code versioning tools, such as Git Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and build tools (Maven, Gradle) Thrives in a multi-tasking environment with constantly evolving priorities. Fluency in English language, both written and spoken excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to deal professionally and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and across geographies. Preferred Skills/Experience Proven working experience in Win32 GUI and MFC programming Experience with Win32 Socket programming Ability to analyze complex problems into simple sub problems and then reuse available solutions to implement most of those. Ability to design simple systems that can work efficiently without needing much support. Agile development methodologies Familiarity with modern infrastructure e.g. containers, K8S/Rancher , AWS , Azure Awareness of AI and its Keywords (for job portal search, sorted by highest priority to lowest) 1.
