About the role
As an Instrumentation & Water Quality Engineer in the Digital Water & Distribution department, your role involves managing the specification, installation, operation, and maintenance of field instrumentation across the water distribution network. You will ensure accurate measurement of bulk water flow, zonal flow, network pressure, reservoir levels, and water quality parameters at critical network locations to support efficient operations and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: - Specify, install, and manage bulk electromagnetic flow meters (inline and insertion type), ultrasonic flow meters, and high-accuracy pressure transmitters essential for DMA monitoring, leak detection, and network performance assessment. - Manage submersible and radar level transmitters for collector wells, booster sumps, Elevated Service Reservoirs (ESRs), and Ground Service Reservoirs (GSRs). - Deploy, configure, and maintain online water quality analyzers at key network nodes and reservoirs, focusing on Free Residual Chlorine (FRC), pH, and turbidity monitoring for ensuring water quality. - Specify IP68-rated submersible instrumentation and design robust, weatherproof, and anti-vandalism enclosures for remote DMA nodes, valve chambers, and field installations. - Plan and execute preventive maintenance and calibration programs for flow meters, pressure transmitters, level sensors, and water quality instruments. - Ensure all instrumentation complies with APBI requirements and relevant standards, including IS:2593 for Electromagnetic Flow Meters. - Maintain and update the master Instrument Index, technical datasheets, calibration certificates, asset registers, and maintenance records. - Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of field instrumentation systems. Qualifications: - B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. - 510 years of experience in field instrumentation and monitoring systems, preferably within water distribution or pipeline network projects. - Strong knowledge of flow, pressure, level, and water quality instrumentation. - Experience in calibration, commissioning, and maintenance of network monitoring systems.
