We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the design, configuration analysis and documentation of structures and ground support systems . This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate who is curious about precision mechanical design and analysis of space systems and wants hands-on exposure to real engineering workflows used in satellite payload development. You will work closely with mechanical and systems engineers and gain experience across design, analysis, documentation, and reviews. Responsibilities Assist in mechanical design and detailing of satellite payload structures, optical mounts, enclosures, electronic packages, and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE). Support CAD modeling and drawings for parts and assemblies. Assist in the documentation of configurations and analysis results. Help with optical support structure and testing concepts. Assist in documentation : Design notes Analysis summaries Test and review support material (PDR/DDR level) Collaborate with cross-functional teams (optics, electronics, systems). Qualifications Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor s or Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering. Strong fundamentals in: Engineering mechanics Strength of materials Basic structural analysis Preferred Skills Exposure to CAD and FEA tools (NX Simcenter or HyperMesh). Interest in or coursework related to: Space systems Opto-mechanical design Precision structures Basic understanding of: Modal behavior Vibration environments Thermal effects on structures Familiarity with Python or MATLAB for basic analysis or post-processing. Prior academic or hobby projects related to satellites, robotics, optics, or mechanisms. Basic understanding of Finite Element Method (FEM) concepts. Comfortable with engineering drawings and dimensions. Willingness to learn, ask questions, and iterate. What s in it for you: Hands-on experience with real satellite hardware design workflows. Exposure to opto-mechanical engineering challenges (alignment, stiffness vs flexibility, thermal effects). Understanding of space qualification environments (launch loads, vibration, thermal). Mentorship from experienced engineers. Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to an active engineering program. Who Should Apply This role is well-suited for someone who: Enjoys problem-solving and structured engineering thinking Is curious about how optical performance and mechanical design interact Wants exposure to space hardware development, even if they re still learning the tools Selection Process Resume shortlisting Technical interview Additional Details Duration: 3-6 months Location: Bangalore
