The Windows and Linux Server Administrator is responsible for the configuration, management, and maintenance of Windows and Linux server operating systems. This role involves ensuring server stability, security, and performance, as well as supporting various IT services and applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in both Windows and Linux environments and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues efficiently. Additionally, the role requires a basic understanding of networking, as well as proactive management and immediate response to any issues. Key Responsibilities: Server Management: - Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux server operating systems. - Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure server security and performance. - Manage server resources, including CPU, memory, and storage, to optimize performance. Monitoring Performance: - Monitor server performance and availability using various tools and techniques. - Analyze and resolve performance issues and system bottlenecks. - Implement and manage monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential issues. Security and Compliance: - Ensure server security by implementing and maintaining appropriate access controls and security policies. - Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. - Apply security patches and updates in a timely manner to protect against threats. Backup and Recovery: - Develop and manage backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability. - Regularly test backup and recovery processes to verify their effectiveness. Troubleshooting and Support: - Provide technical support for server-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software problems. - Collaborate with other IT teams to address complex issues and support cross-functional projects. - Proactively manage and respond immediately to any issues that arise. Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain comprehensive documentation for server configurations, procedures, and incidents. - Prepare and present regular reports on server performance, incidents, and maintenance activities. Automation and Scripting: - Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline server management tasks. - Implement configuration management tools to ensure consistency across server environments. Networking: - Understand the basics of networking, including configuring routers and managing office networks.
