Lead Software Engineer - Frontend

Sense is seeking a Senior or Lead Frontend Engineer to deliver our contractor communication platform to the world's best places to work. As a Frontend Engineer at Sense, you'll be intimately involved with bringing features from idea to completion, and mentoring an incredibly talented group of peers. You'll join a collaborative, fun team where everyone, including you, is active in the product defining and development process. Responsibilities Collaborate with our design and product teams to implement and iterate on features for Sense. Break down complex problems into solvable pieces of work for other Engineers. Meaningfully contribute to the product by suggesting improvements and thinking through features with the whole team. Document and educate the rest of the team on front-end best practices Contribute to the ongoing development and upkeep of our design system Provide product ownership and mentor a team of talented Frontend Engineers Build and maintain crisp, consistent interfaces for our customers Lead code reviews, pairing sessions, and architecture discussions Responsibility for several large-scale ReactJS web applications Work closely with our cross-functional teams consisting of designers, product managers, and QA in an agile, fast-paced environment Implement and maintain features such as Chat interfaces and data visualisations Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions Participate in interviews and hiring as we staff up our team Demonstrated ownership of the product and mentoring other Frontend Engineers Expert proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Proficiency in React AND/OR equivalent modern UI framework. Experience with modern JavaScript libraries, syntax, and tooling. Familiarity with a server side web framework. A strong product design sense and ability to build products from scratch. Hands-on experience with design systems A demonstrated interest and desire to build beautiful and performant front-end experience 6 to 8 years of professional Javascript development experience Experience developing websites consuming various APIs from a microservice backend system Experience writing testable code and maintaining test infrastructure Exceptional coding, debugging, and architecting skills, with an eye for maintainability, reliability, and performance Preferred Qualifications Experience with TypeScript Experience with WebSockets Experience with Canvas, SVG, or animation Experience in a high growth startup environment Additional Information – Perks & Benefits Equity Medical insurance for employees and dependents Quarterly Professional Development allowance Company Wellness Days (On months without holidays, you are still given a 3-day weekend) Sense is an equal-opportunity employer.
