This involves using specialized machinery and tools to wrap the wire around a core, following precise measurements and instructions. To succeed in this role, a transformer winder must have strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination. They should also have a good understanding of electrical principles and be able to follow technical drawings and instructions. In addition, they should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks efficiently and accurately. Responsibilities: The winder assembles transformers and coil assemblies per drawings, procedures, manufacturing instructions, BOM and ECNs and assists with producing prototype units. Follow techniques used in the process of transformer and coil assembly. Utilize schematics, blueprints, engineering sketches, and verbal instructions to build coil and transformer assemblies. Report works status and design questions to supervisor and relevant engineer Consult with supervisor, engineering, or manufacturing engineering on complex projects Wire, solder, fabricate, and assemble prototype units. Operate or tend wire-coiling machines to wind wire coils used in power transformers. Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed and types of parts to be processed. Cut, strip, and bend wire leads using pliers and wire scrapers at the coils ends. Select and load materials such as workpieces, objects, and machine parts onto equipment used in coiling processes. Use hand tools to attach, alter, and trim materials such as wire, insulation, and coils. Record production and operational data on specified forms.
