About the role
As a Principal Data Engineer at our company, you will play a crucial role in architecting, building, and optimizing our data infrastructure to drive BI enablement and lead data transformation projects. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading the design, development, and optimization of large-scale data pipelines and data warehouse/lake solutions. - Driving data integration strategies (ETL/ELT) across various platforms and technologies. - Collaborating with BI and analytics teams to ensure data availability, quality, and accessibility for reporting and insights. - Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to establishing best practices in data engineering and software development. - Evaluating and implementing new data technologies to enhance our data ecosystem. In terms of qualifications, we are looking for someone who brings: - A Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, or equivalent practical experience. - 10+ years of experience in software and data engineering, with a focus on data-centric roles for at least 8 years. - Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Scala, and/or Python. - Strong expertise in SQL and extensive experience with cloud data, especially Snowflake and AWS data services. - Experience in designing and implementing data integration solutions across diverse platforms using languages such as Java, Scala, Python, PySpark, and SparkSQL. - Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools like dbt and data pipeline orchestration skills. - Ability to build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines supporting various patterns for data lakes and warehouses. - Extensive knowledge of AWS-based data services and Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse. - Skills in data modeling, migration strategies, and performance tuning for large-scale data systems. - A history of contributing to major initiatives involving data environment consolidation and integrations. - Proficiency in relational databases, advanced SQL, and familiarity with BI tools like Power BI and Apache Superset. - Knowledge of SDLC, source control (e.g., Git), and best practices for ensuring data quality. - Experience with AI-powered coding tools is a plus. - Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Ability to work aligned with the US Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone for at least a 6-hour overlap with the US teams.
