About the role
Protection Engineer - EHV Substations Experience: 7-9 Years Qualification: Diploma / Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Electrical and Electronics) Location: Nashik, Maharashtra 1. Protection Testing & Commissioning Perform testing and commissioning of protection schemes including: Distance Protection / Advanced Distance Protection Line Differential Protection (if applicable) Transformer, Busbar, and Feeder Protection schemes Conduct primary and secondary injection testing of protection relays. Verify protection logic, interlocks, and scheme functionality. 2. Relay Handling & Programming Configure, program, and troubleshoot protection relays from leading OEMs: Siemens ABB GE SEL Modify relay settings and logic based on system requirements. Ensure proper relay coordination and settings compliance with grid standards. 3. GOOSE Messaging & IEC 61850 Configure and validate GOOSE signaling schemes. Test inter-relay communication and ensure proper functioning of IEC 61850-based systems. Diagnose communication and networking issues within digital substations. 4. Fault Analysis & RCA Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of protection system failures and disturbances. Analyse fault records, event logs, disturbance records, and relay data. Prepare detailed technical reports and recommend corrective actions. 5. Troubleshooting Identify and rectify issues in protection schemes and control circuits. Ensure minimum downtime through effective fault diagnosis. Support site teams during breakdowns and emergency situations.
