About the role
Role Overview: As a Robotics & Factory Automation Expert at Siemens Energy Gas Services, your main responsibility will be to accelerate AI-enabled automation initiatives across manufacturing environments. You will be focusing on designing, deploying, and scaling practical robotics and automation solutions to enhance safety, quality, and productivity, while also laying the groundwork for future physical AI capabilities. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement robotics and factory automation solutions to tackle real, near-term manufacturing and operational challenges. - Lead automation use cases involving industrial robots, cobots, vision-based inspection, and semi-autonomous systems. - Integrate automation solutions with manufacturing systems (MES, IIoT, sensors, PLCs) for scalable and maintainable deployments. - Apply AI selectively and pragmatically (e.g., vision, decision logic, adaptive control) where it clearly enhances automation outcomes. - Enhance safety, quality, consistency, and productivity by reducing manual and repetitive tasks. - Standardize automation approaches and reusable building blocks across factories and sites. - Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to ensure effective solution deployment and lifecycle support. Qualification Required: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, or related field. - 58 years of experience in robotics, factory automation, or AI-enabled physical systems. - Hands-on experience with industrial robots, cobots, automation cells, and safety-critical systems. - Experience integrating AI with automation (e.g., computer vision, edge AI, data-driven control). - Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operational constraints. - Proficiency in Python and/or C++ for robotics or simulation development. - Knowledge of digital twin concepts for simulating robots and environments. - Experience delivering end-to-end solutions from engineering to deployment and feedback integration. - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently. - Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. - Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional and agile teams. - Growth mindset with curiosity for next-generation automation and physical AI technologies. - Ability to balance immediate operational impact with long-term innovation. - Working knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes (preferred).
