About the role
Senior Simulation Engineer Rolling Stock As a Senior Simulation Engineer in the Rolling Stock domain, you will take ownership of the end-to-end simulation development lifecycle from requirements analysis to HiL bench deployment and validation. You will serve as a technical authority for simulation model development, integration, and testing of Train Control and Management Systems (TCMS) and associated Rolling Stock subsystems. Youll make a difference by Demonstrating a deep understanding of the Rolling Stock business, including the architecture of Rolling Stock platforms such as Metro and Locomotives, and driving simulation strategy aligned with project goals. Possessing good knowledge of Rolling Stock subsystems and TCMS functionality, interfaces and system-level behaviour. Ensuring adherence to the V-cycle (V-model) methodology throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements analysis through verification, validation, and deployment. Analyzing and interpreting the requirements of each subsystem functionality as documented, understanding complex interfaces, and translating them into simulation specifications. Reading and interpreting electrical schematics relevant to Rolling Stock subsystems and ensuring accuracy in simulation model representation. Developing simulation models of subsystems from requirements using NI LabVIEW. Where project requirements dictate, develop models using MATLAB & Simulink. Independently verifying simulation models developed for subsystems, integration of multiple simulation models, and ensuring system-level coherence and signal integrity. Integrating developed simulation models and performing signal mapping in NI VeriStand, ensuring seamless communication between models and real-time targets. Working on communication protocols including MVB, RS232, CAN, Ethernet, and TRDP. Managing test benches comprising NI Instruments (PXI platforms and associated hardware), Duagon Instruments. Developing advanced User Interfaces in LabVIEW that reflect Rolling Stock subsystems for operator interaction, monitoring, and diagnostics. Deployment of simulation models on HiL benches, executing complex test scenarios, analyzing results, and ensuring test coverage. Demonstrating expert understanding of HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and SiL (Software-in-the-Loop) testing methodologies and driving continuous improvement in testing processes. Troubleshooting efforts on HiL test benches, diagnosing hardware, software, and interface-related issues, and implementing corrective actions. Conducting training sessions for customers, team members, and service colleagues. Desired Skills: Successfully completed a technical degree in computer science, electrical engineering, railway engineering or a related subject. Education: Bachelor's degree (B. Tech / B.E.) in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline. Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in simulation engineering, with hands-on experience in working with test bench, HiL/SiL testing. Expert-level proficiency in NI LabVIEW development (simulation model development, UI development, system integration, and debugging). Extensive hands-on experience working with NI Products, specifically PXI instruments, real-time controllers, and associated hardware. Strong experience with communication protocols such as MVB, RS232, CAN, Ethernet, and TRDP. Deep understanding and proven experience with the V-model development lifecycle and requirement engineering. Ability to read, interpret, and validate complex electrical schematics. Strong understanding of HiL and SiL testing concepts and their application in Rolling Stock projects. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills Added Advantage Skills: Significant experience in the Rolling Stock domain (Metro, Locomotives, or similar rail vehicle platforms) - highly preferred. Proficiency in NI VeriStand for simulation model integration, signal mapping, and real-time deployment. Strong experience with MATLAB and Simulink for model-based development and simulation. In-depth understanding of TCMS architecture, subsystem functionalities, and system-level integration. Hands-on experience with version control tools such as SVN and Git, and familiarity with document management using tools like SVN and Polarion. This role is based in Bangalore.
