About the role
As a Software Architect - Train IT Rolling Stock System at Siemens Foundational Technologies, you will play a crucial role in leading the design and development of next-generation Passenger Information Systems for public transportation. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing scalable and resilient architecture for PIS applications - Creating system architecture documentation and technical specifications - Establishing architectural guidelines and standards - Ensuring high availability and fault-tolerant system design - Developing integration strategies for multiple data sources and systems Additionally, you will provide technical leadership by: - Leading and mentoring development teams - Reviewing and approving technical designs and implementations - Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical decision-making processes To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications: - Bachelor of Engineering degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field - Minimum 10-12 years of software development experience - 5 years of experience in software architecture - Strong background in real-time information systems - Experience with transportation systems preferred In terms of technical skills, you should have expertise in programming, development, architecture design, microservices architecture, event-driven systems, real-time data processing, RESTful APIs, and database technologies such as SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling. Moreover, soft skills such as excellent communication abilities, strong leadership qualities, problem-solving skills, project management capabilities, stakeholder management, and technical documentation expertise are essential for this role. Furthermore, additional requirements include experience with accessibility standards, knowledge of transportation industry regulations, understanding of IoT architecture, experience with embedded systems, and familiarity with audio-video protocols. The work environment offers a hybrid work model after an initial probation period of 6 months, international project exposure, collaboration with global teams, and occasional travel.
