As a Director of Cloud Infrastructure at Skylo, you will play a crucial role in owning and scaling the cloud platform supporting the global direct-to-device satellite network and enterprise systems. You will lead the Cloud Infrastructure team, ensuring reliability, automation, performance, and cost efficiency across public cloud (GCP and AWS) and private/on-prem cloud environments. Your responsibilities will include: - Cloud Infrastructure & Platform: - Architect, scale, and optimize Skylos multi-cloud and private cloud estate. - Provide and enhance platform services such as compute, networking, storage, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and developer tooling. - Drive infrastructure automation and standardization through DevOps practices like Terraform and Pulumi. - Lead cloud networking and IAM across all environments. - Develop strategies for the private/on-prem cloud footprint supporting Skylos network functions. - Reliability, Operations & Scale: - Implement best practices for high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity. - Establish SRE practices and operational standards for a 24x7 commercial network. - Manage capacity planning to support network and customer base growth. - Cost Governance & FinOps: - Optimize cloud spend and lead FinOps initiatives for cost governance. - Manage cloud vendor relationships and contracts effectively. - Security, Compliance & Data: - Collaborate with the Security team to embed security practices into the cloud infrastructure. - Ensure compliance with standards like SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR. - Oversee data infrastructure supporting analytics and business requirements. - Team Leadership & Collaboration: - Build and lead a high-performing Cloud Infrastructure team. - Collaborate with product, network, and engineering leaders to ensure reliability and security in software delivery. - Mentor engineers, set technical direction, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You are expected to have 15+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering with leadership experience, expertise in GCP and AWS, proficiency in Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, cloud security, and FinOps. Experience in telecom or regulated industries is a plus.
