About the role
Experience: 15+ Years IT Experience | 10+ Years SAP Commerce (Hybris) Primary Purpose We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect / Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) to lead architecture, solution design, delivery governance, and modernization initiatives for a large-scale enterprise eCommerce platform. This role requires a hands-on architect with deep expertise in SAP Commerce Cloud, Java ecosystems, enterprise integrations, cloud-native architectures, and solution delivery leadership. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering teams, and external vendors to deliver scalable, secure, high-performing commerce solutions aligned with business objectives. The role combines strategic architecture responsibilities with technical leadership, production stability ownership, and continuous platform innovation. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Solution Design Serve as the SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) technical authority across B2B and B2C commerce implementations. Define end-to-end solution architecture, integration architecture, deployment architecture, and non-functional requirements. Design scalable, secure, and high-performing commerce solutions leveraging SAP Commerce Cloud and enterprise integration patterns. Conduct architecture reviews, technical assessments, design validation, and solution governance activities. Drive modernization initiatives including Commerce upgrades, cloud adoption, API-first architecture, and frontend evolution. Delivery Leadership Lead technical delivery teams through the complete SDLC lifecycle. Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and Development Teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, code reviews, and development guidance. Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, release governance, and CI/CD processes. Support Agile planning, estimation, risk management, and delivery execution. SAP Commerce Cloud Expertise Lead development and customization of SAP Commerce Cloud modules including: B2B Accelerator B2C Accelerator OCC APIs WCMS Backoffice ASM Solr Search Promotions Checkout & Order Management
Drive implementation of advanced commerce capabilities including: Loyalty Programs Guided Selling Single-Step Checkout Order Routing Product Search Optimization Marketplace Extensions
Integration Leadership Architect and oversee integrations with: ERP Systems Payment Gateways Tax Engines Loyalty Platforms PIM Systems CRM Platforms External Commerce Services
Design and govern REST APIs, microservices, event-driven integrations, and security frameworks. Production Stability & Performance Own platform performance, scalability, observability, and production stability. Lead root cause analysis and resolution of critical production incidents. Define performance optimization strategies for APIs, commerce services, and search platforms. Drive monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational excellence initiatives. Cloud & DevOps Support deployment and operations on: SAP Commerce Cloud (CCv2) Microsoft Azure
Collaborate with DevOps teams on: CI/CD Automation Release Management Infrastructure Optimization Security Compliance
Innovation & Continuous Improvement Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend platform improvements. Drive API modernization, frontend modernization, cloud adoption, and architecture evolution initiatives. Support adoption of AI-assisted development and automation opportunities where applicable. Required Experience & Skills Essential 15+ years of software engineering experience. 10+ years of SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) architecture and development experience. Strong expertise in: SAP Commerce Cloud B2B/B2C Accelerators OCC APIs WCMS Backoffice ASM Solr
Deep expertise in: Java (Java 11/17) Spring Framework Spring Boot REST APIs Enterprise Integration Patterns
Strong experience with: Microservices Architecture API Security OAuth SAML Encryption Standards
Hands-on experience with: Spartacus Angular React
Experience integrating: ERP Systems Payment Providers Tax Engines Loyalty Platforms DataHub or equivalent middleware solutions
Strong understanding of: Software Design Patterns SOLID Principles Domain-Driven Design Performance Engineering
Experience leading distributed development teams and conducting architecture reviews. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Preferred Skills SAP Commerce Cloud CCv2 implementation experience. Microsoft Azure experience. Experience with: Kafka Event-Driven Architecture Data Lake Integrations Headless Commerce
Exposure to: AI/ML Generative AI Intelligent Search Conversational Commerce
Knowledge of alternative commerce platforms: Shopify Commercetools BigCommerce
Experience with observability tools: Dynatrace Kibana SonarCloud
