Staff Engineer, Web Platform, Digital Business

Purpose Drive the architecture, scalability, and performance of SonyLIVs Web Platform, ensuring a seamless, high-quality user experience across devices. The role will focus on building robust frontend systems, enabling engineering excellence, and supporting business growth through reliable and scalable web solutions. Education Bachelors / Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Experience 812 years of experience in frontend/web development Strong experience in building large-scale, consumer-facing web applications Desirable Experience Experience in OTT / media / streaming platforms Exposure to Smart TV / multi-device ecosystems Experience with performance optimization, SEO, and analytics integration Familiarity with backend-for-frontend (BFF) or full-stack capabilities Position Interlinkages Within the Organization Product & UX teams Backend Engineering & Platform teams Data & Analytics QA & Release Management Outside the Organization Technology vendors / partners Third-party platform providers (analytics, ads, video players, etc.) Key Responsibilities Define and drive the frontend architecture for SonyLIVs web platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability Build and optimize high-performance, responsive web applications for large user bases Lead design and implementation of reusable components, frameworks, and libraries Collaborate with Product and Design teams to translate requirements into high-quality user experiences Drive performance optimization (load time, rendering, SEO, Core Web Vitals) Ensure code quality, testing standards, and best practices across the team Mentor engineers and contribute to capability building within the frontend team Work closely with backend teams to define APIs and integration patterns Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance platform capabilities Support release planning, debugging, and production issue resolution Critical Competencies Technical Competencies Strong expertise in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 Proficiency in frameworks like React / Next.js / Angular Deep understanding of web performance, caching, and optimization techniques Experience with API integrations, micro-frontend architecture Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and testing frameworks Behavioural Competencies Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking Stakeholder collaboration and communication Ownership mindset and attention to detail Ability to mentor and guide teams Adaptability in a fast-paced environment Other Personal Characteristics Passion for building high-quality digital products Proactive and self-driven approach Strong focus on user experience and innovation Ability to balance technical depth with business priorities Why join us Sony Pictures Networks is home to some of Indias leading entertainment channels such as SET, SAB, MAX, PAL, PIX, Sony BBC Earth, Yay!, Sony Marathi, Sony SIX, Sony TEN, Sony TEN1, SONY Ten2, SONY TEN3, SONY TEN4, to name a few!
