About the role
Role Overview: As the Lead Network Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure, including wireless data and security components. Your role will involve hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and driving continual service improvement across complex business-critical environments. Key Responsibilities: - Perform configuration management for routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and access points. - Manage and maintain Cisco SDA Network, ISE, and Wireless Infrastructure to ensure stability, availability, and security. - Handle incident, problem, and change management, including root cause analysis and RCA preparation for major incidents. - Maintain appropriate software versions, firmware, and certificates, ensuring timely upgrades and patching. - Create and maintain wireless heat maps, monitor Wi-Fi health and performance using Cisco Prime. - Conduct capacity, availability, and performance reporting, including bandwidth and traffic analysis. - Lead device configuration backup and firmware management across all network components. - Coordinate with vendors, ISPs, and internal teams for network upgrades, issue resolution, and service continuity. - Manage QoS configuration, risk assessments, and implementation of mitigation plans. - Develop and update SOPs, knowledge bases, and network documentation (AS-IS and Infra docs). - Support planned and unplanned outages, DR drills, and network audits. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimize network operations. Qualification Required: - Education: B Tech, B E, or equivalent qualification; Master's in IT preferred. - Preferred Certifications: CCNP Enterprise, CCNA-Wireless, or CCNP-Wireless. - Experience: 5-6 years of hands-on experience in network operations (L2 level). - Proven expertise in data, wireless, and AAA technologies. Additional Details: The Lead Network Engineer is expected to have solid hands-on experience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, Cisco Prime, and Wi-Fi connectivity troubleshooting. You should also be proficient in LAN/WAN design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting, with experience in routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, QoS, Multicasting, and IP schema design. Moreover, familiarity with ticketing tools, network monitoring platforms, Visio, and Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation is required. Soft skills such as excellent communication, documentation, problem-solving, and analytical abilities are essential for this role. Additionally, you should have the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and be flexible to support 24x7 operations and critical change implementations. Your key deliverables will include ensuring high availability and performance of enterprise network systems, timely RCA submission and incident resolution, accurate updated configuration, and infrastructure documentation, as well as proactive monitoring and improvement of wireless and LAN health.
