A299 - Project Engineer – Design (SolidWorks)

Key Responsibilities: Design and develop automation equipment, fixtures, special purpose machines (SPMs), material handling systems, and tooling solutions based on customer and project requirements. Create detailed mechanical designs, assembly layouts, manufacturing drawings, and documentation for industrial automation projects. Perform engineering calculations related to structural integrity, machine components, mechanisms, actuators, and system performance. Design and develop fixtures, checking fixtures, packaging machines, gantries, lifters, manual and pneumatic slides, and other automation equipment. Select and integrate mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and material handling devices. Ensure designs comply with GD&T standards, manufacturability requirements, and project specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, controls, procurement, and project management to ensure successful project execution. Interact with suppliers and customers to support design reviews, technical discussions, and project implementation activities. Participate in project planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Support installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities as required. Skills and Experience Required: Qualification: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience in mechanical design of automation systems, fixtures, special purpose machines (SPMs), tooling, or material handling equipment. Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development. Sound knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and engineering drawing standards. Strong understanding of mechanical design calculations and machine design principles. Experience in design and development of: Fixtures and checking fixtures Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) Sheet metal and fabricated structures Material handling equipment Packaging machines Gantries, lifters, manual and pneumatic slides Pneumatic systems Motor and gearbox selection

Proficiency in SolidWorks , AutoCAD , and PDM/PLM systems. Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes. Experience in project planning, coordination, and execution. Exposure to global customer interactions will be an added advantage. Knowledge of Pneumatics, CAE, and Controls Engineering will be an added advantage. Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and customer-facing environments.
