Senior Node.js Backend Developer (Thiruvananthapuram)

We are looking for a skilled Senior Node.js Backend Developer with 4+ years of experience in Node.js and server-side technologies to join our growing team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders, frontend developers, and product managers to deliver robust, production-ready backend solutions. Key Responsibilities - Develop, maintain, and optimize server-side applications and microservices using Node.js. - Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrate them with frontend and third-party systems. - Build and manage database schemas, queries, and data models across SQL and NoSQL databases. - Ensure backend systems are secure, performant, and scalable. - Collaborate with frontend developers to define and document API contracts. - Write clean, modular, reusable, and well-documented code. - Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend and server-side issues. - Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions. - Optimize applications for performance, reliability, and security. - Stay updated with new technologies and suggest improvements to backend architecture and processes. - Prior experience with banking or financial domain projects is preferred. .Preferred Skills - 4+ years of professional experience in backend development. - Strong expertise in Node.js and JavaScript (ES6+). - Strong understanding of TypeScript (TS) over JS. - Experience with Express.js, Fastify, or similar Node.js frameworks. - Good knowledge of databases such as MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. - Experience in API design and development (RESTful; GraphQL is a plus). - Understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven design. - Familiarity with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka. - Experience with authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth2, etc.). - Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Supertest, etc.). - Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker. - Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative workplace.
