About the role
Design Engineer (WTP) Focus: Planning & designing the plant Key Responsibilities: Design treatment processes (clarification, filtration, disinfection) Prepare PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) & P&IDs Select equipment (pumps, filters, chemical dosing systems) Hydraulic calculations and capacity planning Coordination with civil, electrical & instrumentation teams Skills Needed: Knowledge of water chemistry Design software (AutoCAD, STAAD, etc.) Understanding of treatment methods like coagulation, flocculation 2. Project Site Engineer (WTP) Focus: Execution at site (EPC projects) Key Responsibilities: Supervise installation of pipelines, tanks, and machinery Coordinate with contractors & vendors Ensure work as per drawings and project schedule Quality control and safety compliance Daily progress reporting Skills Needed: Site management Basic civil + mechanical + electrical knowledge Strong coordination and problem-solving 3. Commissioning Engineer (WTP) Focus: Testing & startup of the plant Key Responsibilities: Dry & wet testing of equipment Calibration of instruments (flow meters, pH meters) Trial runs and performance testing Ensuring plant meets design output and water quality standards Skills Needed: Process knowledge Troubleshooting skills Instrumentation basics 4. Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer Focus: Running the plant after commissioning Key Responsibilities: Monitor plant performance (flow, pressure, quality) Maintain pumps, valves, filters Chemical dosing control (chlorine, alum, etc.) Preventive and breakdown maintenance Record keeping and reporting Skills Needed: Practical knowledge of plant operations Maintenance planning Basic lab testing knowledge 5. Electrical Instrumentation Engineer (WTP) Focus: Power & automation systems Key Responsibilities: Installation and maintenance of electrical panels, MCCs SCADA/PLC system handling Instrument calibration (level, flow, pressure sensors) Troubleshooting electrical faults Skills Needed: PLC/SCADA knowledge Electrical system design and maintenance 6. Process Engineer Water Quality Engineer Focus: Water treatment efficiency & quality Key Responsibilities: Monitor raw & treated water quality Optimize treatment process Lab testing (pH, turbidity, TDS, chlorine) Ensure compliance with standards (like BIS, WHO) Skills Needed: Strong chemistry knowledge Analytical and lab skills 7. Planning Billing Engineer (EPC Projects) Focus: Project tracking & cost Key Responsibilities: Project scheduling (using Primavera/MS Project) Quantity estimation & billing Cost control and reporting Coordination with client for invoices
