Role Overview

The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for architecting and building a brand-new, scalable platform that enables business-critical ecommerce capabilities. This role requires deep full-stack expertise and prior experience in e-commerce SaaS environments. The engineer will design foundational architecture, define technical standards, and deliver a production-grade platform that supports long-term growth, extensibility, and operational excellence. This is a highly autonomous role with significant influence over system design, technical direction, and engineering best practices.

How you will achieve success: A scalable, multi-tenant 3PL platform capable of onboarding external clients with distinct catalogs, inventory, and fulfillment rules Reliable core systems for inventory management, order routing, and warehouse operations across client accounts Fast, low-friction onboarding for new 3PL clients through configurable, reusable platform components Accurate, real-time inventory and order visibility for both internal ops teams and external clients Reliable, observable, self-healing fulfillment pipelines with clear SLAs clients can be sold against Reduced manual intervention in exception handling (mis-ships, short-ships, returns, billing disputes) through AI-driven automation Clear architectural direction as the 3PL platform scales from first clients to broad external adaptation.

What experiences will help you in this role: 6–8+ years of experience building and shipping production backend systems

Experience informally or formally leading the technical direction of a team or workstream (design reviews, mentorship, setting standards)

Experience with ecommerce order management, inventory, warehouse, or logistics systems is a strong plus

Comfortable working in a fast-moving, still-being-defined 0-to-1 environment

Technical Skills

Strong fundamentals in backend engineering: APIs, data modeling, databases, and distributed systems

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud-native service design

Familiarity with event-driven architectures (queues, streams, async processing)

Strong testing, debugging, and production-support practices

Technical Leadership

Ability to set technical direction and make sound judgment calls without direct authority

Strong code review and mentorship instincts

Comfort representing a workstream in broader architecture discussions

Domain & AI Exposure (Nice to Have)

Exposure to EDI standards or 3PL/WMS integration patterns

Experience integrating ML model outputs (forecasts, predictions, anomaly scores) into application logic

Interest in growing domain expertise in e-commerce logistics and fulfillment

Collaboration & Communication

Ability to influence and align engineers without formal authority over them

Clear written and verbal communication, especially in async, distributed team settings

Comfort balancing hands-on technical work with guiding others

This is a remote position and requires candidates to have an available work-from-home setup Desktop/Laptop system requirements:

  • 4th generation or higher, at least Intel i3 or equivalent processor;
  • at least 4GB RAM;
  • Windows 10 and above or MAC OSX operating system
  • You are required to provide your own dual monitors A strong and stable internet connection (A DSL, cable or fiber wired internet service with 10 Mbps plan or higher for primary connection) PC Headset A high-definition (HD) external or integrated webcam with at least 720p resolution.
