At Stantec, our Hazmat and Indoor Air Quality team is at the forefront of creating safer, healthier spaces for communities across Canada. We tackle complex challenges in indoor air quality, hazardous materials, and mould consulting—work that directly supports the well‑being of building occupants and the long‑term resilience of the built environment. From identifying and coordinating the repair, replacement, or abatement of hazardous building materials to supporting remediation and design with our Environmental Services and Buildings Engineering groups, our work makes a tangible impact every day. Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Technologist to join our Hazmat and Indoor Air Quality team in British Columbia. This is a great opportunity for a mid-level professional who enjoys variety, thrives in changing environments, and wants to grow within a respected, multidisciplinary firm.

Your Key Responsibilities

As part of the Hazmat and Indoor Air Quality team, your work will include a diverse mix of field and office responsibilities, such as:

Understanding the application of occupational health and safety principles and regulations, especially as they relate to industrial hygiene and hazardous materials

Planning and supporting hazardous materials surveys and assessments in a variety of environments

Collecting samples for asbestos, metals (e.g. lead), PCBs, microbials, and other hazardous substances

Estimating quantities of hazardous materials for the purposes of abatement project planning

Conducting hazardous materials condition assessments

Conducting hazardous material abatement/remediation inspections and air monitoring

Conducting indoor air quality assessments and testing

Conducting industrial hygiene assessments and testing

Assisting with the operation and calibration of air quality testing equipment

Contributing to the development of detailed technical reports, hazardous materials management plans, safe work procedures, abatement specifications, and exposure control plans

Assisting with the preparation of proposals for the above-noted types of projects

Support project planning, site coordination, and scheduling for field activities

Collaborate with project managers, field staff, and consultants to deliver projects on time and on budget

Evening and weekend work as required

Frequent travel within Canada (primarily Western and Northern Canada) and potentially the U.S. as required
