About the role
Capabilities and Credentials
Knowledge and application of structural design codes (NBCC, CSA, ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.).
Knowledge of and ability to use industry standard structural analysis software suites (STAAD.Pro, SAP 2000, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
Understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Strong in fundamentals and first principles, sound technical skills, with focus on accurate design calculations and analysis.
Knowledge of structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
Recognizes when problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions in a timely manner.
Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thinking.
Skilled at conducting preliminary research.
Field experience is an asset.
Enthusiastic to expand structural engineering knowledge and keen to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to work on multiple jobs/projects at a time.
Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in French (written and verbal) will be considered an asset.
Willingness to travel and a valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
Eligible to apply as engineer-in-training with APEGNB and apply for P.Eng. licensure within four years.
Previous co-op/Internship of related work experience, an asset
