NPD Design Engineer

Location: Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu We are looking for a creative and hands-on NPD Design Engineer to join our state-of-the-art packaging manufacturing facility in Thiruvallur . In this role, you will lead end-to-end New Product Development (NPD)turning customer concepts and market requirements into production-ready customized packaging solutions using advanced CAD modeling tools. Key Responsibilities Product Conceptualization & Design: Design and develop new customized steel/industrial packaging solutions based on client specifications and functional requirements. 3D Modeling & Drafting: Create accurate 3D models, assembly designs, and detailed 2D production drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA). DFM & DFA Standards: Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure seamless transition from design to shop-floor production. Prototyping & Testing: Oversee prototype fabrication, conduct fit-function testing, evaluate packaging strength, and iterate designs based on feedback. Documentation: Generate and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering change orders (ECOs), technical specifications, and project documentation. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with production, quality assurance, tooling, and procurement teams to optimize material usage and reduce manufacturing costs. Desired Candidate Profile Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering. Experience: 2 to 7 years in product design and development, preferably in packaging solutions, sheet metal, steel fabrication, or industrial products. Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or CATIA / Creo) for 2D drafting and 3D parametric modeling. Core Competencies: Strong knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, tolerance stack-up analysis, and BOM creation.
