Job Title: Project Engineer – Mechanical Systems

Location: Danvers, MA (100% Onsite)

Contract Duration: 12+ Months

Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Engineer with strong mechanical engineering and project execution experience to support chemical processing and manufacturing projects. This role will be responsible for managing engineering projects from concept through execution while also providing hands-on mechanical engineering support for piping, process equipment, and system integration activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in chemical processing or similar industrial manufacturing environments, with the ability to manage projects independently while coordinating across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects related to process and utility systems

Develop and review engineering documentation including:

Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)

Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

Mechanical and piping drawings

Perform piping stress analysis, line sizing, and equipment evaluations to ensure safe and reliable operation

Support installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of chemical process equipment and systems

Coordinate project execution activities with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering teams, contractors, and vendors

Participate in HAZOPs, PHAs, process safety reviews, and regulatory compliance activities

Review and approve vendor equipment specifications and technical submittals

Provide technical support for pneumatic solids handling, slurry systems, and fluid transport applications (preferred)

Maintain project schedules, technical documentation, and engineering deliverables

Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

6+ years of experience in Project Engineering and Mechanical Engineering within chemical processing or industrial manufacturing environments

Strong knowledge of:

Piping systems

Stress analysis

Line sizing

P&ID development

Familiarity with applicable industry standards including:

API

ASME

NFPA

OSHA

Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills

Ability to independently manage projects and drive execution
