About the role

The HVHF Connector Core Engineer leads the development and validation of global high-voltage and high-frequency connector systems, ensuring targets are met for quality, cost, delivery, and performance (QCDP). Main Mission:

Lead product development and validation for global connector systems

Ensure compliance with QCDP and performance requirements across the full lifecycle

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare supplier consultation and sourcing packages

Analyze supplier feedback and draft Technical Supplier Assessments (TSA)

Own and manage deliverables for each project milestone

Drive component development to achieve QCDP targets

Co-develop with suppliers, including quality tracking activities (e.g., APQP)

Ensure technical feasibility, manufacturability, and design robustness

Lead DFMEA activities and support PFMEA execution

Manage prototype builds and deliveries aligned to milestone gates

Lead supplier technical interactions (reviews, purchasing meetings, issue resolution)

Ensure proper integration of components into engine/vehicle/platform environments

Manage engineering changes and associated technical documentation

Support assembly plants from pilot through launch

Drive product and process validation plans (DV/PV)

Manage technical configuration and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle

Contribute to cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives

Participate actively in crisis management and problem resolution

Support development and maintenance of technical policies/standards

Scope of Responsibility:

Full ownership of a global family of:

High-voltage connector components

High-frequency connector components

Draft specifications and ensure supplier compliance

Manage design interfaces across cross-functional stakeholders

Lead design, validation, industrialization, and launch phases

Provide functional oversight to internal/external engineering designers

Working Relationships:

Reporting: Discipline Manager

Internal Partners: SSTL, Quality, Purchasing, Vehicle Architecture, and related support functions

External Partners: Suppliers and external testing laboratories

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, or any related field

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

Strong automotive engineering fundamentals (mechanics, electronics, functional safety)

Proficiency with project management tools and milestone execution

Professional English (minimum B2) with ability to lead international meetings

Ability to work on-site at the Auburn Hills Tech Center office

Ability to support global projects across Europe and North America time zones

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in design, development, validation, or release of automotive connectors/components

  • DRE experience at an automotive OEM or supplier

  • DVP&R ownership
