Java Developer

Strategic Staffing Solutions customer is looking for a Software Engineer to join their team, developing and supporting business-critical trading applications used by front office teams. In this role, you will build scalable, high-performance solutions for trade booking and control systems, working closely with traders, quants, and technology teams to deliver reliable, efficient software.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications for front office trading systems.

Build and enhance trade booking and control platforms used in daily trading operations.

Collaborate with traders, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.

Integrate applications with internal and external systems while ensuring data accuracy and reliability.

Optimize application performance, stability, and scalability.

Contribute to software testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.

Maintain technical documentation and follow software development best practices.

Continuously improve platform capabilities and contribute to innovative engineering solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

Commercial experience developing applications in Java .

Experience with Git for version control.

Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, front office environment.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with Slang or willingness to learn it.

Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.

Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf) to improve software development productivity.

Experience working on financial trading or capital markets applications is an advantage.
