About the role
Role Overview We're seeking an Engineering Manager / Senior Engineer to lead electrical design for data center facilities, covering the full MV/LV power distribution infrastructure from utility point of interconnection through to the IT load. This role delivers high-quality electrical engineering across development and detailed design phases, working closely with Sunstripe's data center power and energy systems teams to ensure facility design and grid interconnection requirements are fully aligned. Key Responsibilities Lead electrical design for data center facilities across all project phases from concept and single-line diagrams through detailed design and construction drawingsDesign MV/LV power distribution systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, automatic transfer switches, and busbar systemsDevelop redundancy architectures (N+1, 2N, 2N+1) aligned with client uptime and reliability requirementsDesign and specify backup generation systems including diesel/gas generators, paralleling switchgear, and fuel systemsCoordinate electrical design with mechanical and cooling systems (UPS heat loads, generator exhaust, cooling infrastructure interfaces)Support integration of behind-the-meter BESS and renewable generation into facility electrical designPrepare design packages including single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, load schedules, and construction drawingsEnsure designs comply with relevant standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70/75/76, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE)Coordinate with the data center power and energy systems team on interconnection requirements and load profile inputsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers Requirements Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or related fieldSolid experience in electrical design for data center facilities MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, and redundancy architectureHands-on experience with data center electrical infrastructure at hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise scaleFamiliarity with behind-the-meter BESS and renewable integration into data center facilitiesKnowledge of data center uptime and reliability frameworks (Uptime Institute Tier classifications, TIA-942)US market experience is preferred knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70/75/76, and applicable codesProficiency with relevant tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, or similar)Strong analytical, written, and communication skillsAbility to work independently and manage own deliverables within project timelines Role Overview We're seeking an Engineering Manager / Senior Engineer to lead electrical design for data center facilities, covering the full MV/LV power distribution infrastructure from utility point of interconnection through to the IT load.
