Role & responsibilities 1. Project Manager (PM) / Construction Manager (CM) The strategic backbone of the project, responsible for the overarching delivery, financials, and timeline. [1, 2] Project Planning: Establishing timelines, defining objectives, and setting project parameters. Budget Oversight: Monitoring finances, approving expenditures, and executing cost control. Risk Management: Mitigating potential hazards, managing delays, and ensuring compliance with zoning/legal requirements. Stakeholder Communication: Acting as the primary liaison between the client, architects, engineers, and contractors 2. General Contractor Responsible for operationalizing the project plans and managing the actual construction activities on site. [1, 2] Subcontractor Management: Sourcing, hiring, and scheduling trade professionals (electricians, plumbers, etc.). Procurement: Ordering, tracking, and allocating raw materials and heavy machinery. Legal Compliance: Securing necessary building permits, licenses, and certifications. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] 3. Site Manager / Supervisor The boots-on-the-ground leader who ensures that daily work happens as planned and meets quality standards. Daily Operations: Assigning daily tasks to work crews and monitoring progress against the project schedule. Construction Workers & Trade Specialists The personnel responsible for the physical execution of the build and manual labor. [1] Site Preparation: Clearing hazardous debris, digging trenches, and assembling temporary structures like scaffolding. Safety Adherence: Following established site safety rules, using protective gear, and reporting unsafe site conditions. [1, 2, 3, 4] Preferred candidate profile Education and Licensing B.E. or B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Masters degree preferred for senior roles) Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification Strong academic record or foundational coursework background [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Technical Skills Proficiency in design and modeling software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit Knowledge of quantity surveying (QS), Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and billing Understanding of RCC design, structural detailing, and local building codes [1, 2, 3]
