Application Engineer II-Java Backend

As a Backend Engineer at the company, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise and grow further. You will be working in an agile squad alongside Technical Squad Leads to code, provide technical expertise, and assist with solution design. The Backend is written in Java Spring Boot and utilizes various Azure Cloud Services such as AKS, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, and ASB. The Backend serves multiple user-specific Frontends written in Angular. You will be working with an Azure Cloud-based application that has a worldwide user base, is highly integrated into the full value chain of Swiss Re, must fulfill high security and compliance standards, and uses state-of-the-art technology stacks. Key Responsibilities: - Contribute to the development of high-quality code within an agile squad - Collaborate with Technical Squad Leads on solution design - Work with Java Spring Boot in the Backend development - Utilize various Azure Cloud Services for the Backend infrastructure - Collaborate with Frontend developers working with Angular Qualifications Required: - 8-10 years of overall experience in the technology field - 5+ years of experience with Java/Spring Boot, ideally focusing on transactional enterprise applications - Familiarity with relational and non-relational database technology/concepts - Experience in (micro-) service solution design using synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns - Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal Swiss Re is a leading provider of reinsurance, insurance, and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer, working towards making the world more resilient.
