About the role
Role Overview: As a Manager, Credit Model Development at Synchrony, you will be responsible for managing credit models throughout their lifecycle, from initiation to retirement. Your role will involve activities such as model development, evaluation, validation, implementation testing, and documentation. You will have the opportunity to learn industry best practices in credit model development and serve as the single point of contact for model assessments by the Risk Management team and external regulators. Key Responsibilities: - Develop credit risk models using traditional logistic regression and machine learning techniques, and ensure detailed documentation. - Validate and review internal and external credit models by calculating standard metrics. - Conduct deep dive and ad-hoc analysis to identify root causes for model performance deteriorations. - Assist the Model Risk Management team in their responsibilities including model validation reviews, annual reviews, and periodic assessment of model performance. - Collaborate with the Credit strategy team to understand how models are utilized in strategies and recommend any necessary changes. - Provide analytical support for key business initiatives and develop a strong working knowledge of data warehouse and relevant analytic data systems. Qualification Required: - Master's/bachelor's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or any Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Consumer Credit. In the absence of a degree, 4 years of experience in Consumer Credit and working knowledge of credit bureau data is required. - Proficiency in Python, Pyspark, AWS Sagemaker, and basic understanding of SAS. - Familiarity with basic and advanced ML algorithms, statistics, and model performance KPIs. - Ability to interpret complex data, effectively communicate findings, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Strong written and oral communication skills.
