Senior Web Application Firewall (WAF) Engineer

Position: Senior WAF Engineer Location: 100% Remote (CST/EST Timezone) Rate: Open Overview We're looking for a Senior Web Application Firewall (WAF) Engineer to join a global cybersecurity team. This role focuses on implementing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise-level WAF solutions to protect applications across cloud environments. You'll work closely with security, infrastructure, and development teams to strengthen defenses and streamline operations. Responsibilities Lead WAF deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting across applications. Implement and manage standardized WAF rule sets and policies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex security issues. Create documentation, monitoring, and reporting frameworks. Support incident response and service requests. Qualifications 3–5+ years of experience in security, network, or application security . Hands-on expertise with cloud-based WAFs (Imperva, Akamai, AWS, Azure). Strong understanding of network architecture and web security principles. Experience with Terraform , Git , Confluence , and Jira preferred. Scripting experience (Python, Ruby, or Golang) a plus. Relevant certifications (CCSP, CCSS, or cloud certs) are an advantage. Soft Skills Strong communication and collaboration with global teams. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and multitasking abilities. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
