About the role
CAE – Powertrain – 3D/1D CFD Engineer Roles and Responsibilities • Perform baseline CAE analysis of refrigeration and HVAC systems using 1D simulation tools. • Develop and optimize system models for refrigeration cycles, airflow distribution, and heat exchanger performance. • Evaluate system KPIs such as cooling capacity, COP (Coefficient of Performance), pressure drop, and energy efficiency. • Support design teams in delivering HVAC-compliant solutions within program timelines. • Drive test-to-CAE correlation for refrigeration systems, ensuring simulation accuracy. • Consider real-world constraints such as packaging, manufacturability, cost, and regulatory compliance. • Participate in model build, debugging, and validation of 1D simulation setups. • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, testing, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment.
Job Requirements Primary Skills Required • Strong expertise in refrigeration cycle and HVAC system modeling using 1D CAE tools. • Hands-on experience with: o GT-SUITE for thermal-fluid simulation. o Debugging and validation of 1D models. o Interpretation of CAE results to provide actionable design recommendations. • Good understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles. • Proficiency in system-level performance prediction (cooling load, COP, pressure drop). • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving capability. • Good communication and presentation skills.
Additional Skills Preferred • Experience in design optimization for refrigeration systems. • Exposure to automation tools (Excel macro/VBA, Python scripting). • Knowledge of: o Refrigeration cycle components (compressor, condenser, evaporator, expansion device). o HVAC system integration in automotive or industrial applications. • Awareness of manufacturing feasibility and packaging constraints.
Experience Required • 6–10 years of experience in refrigeration/HVAC CAE analysis. • Proven experience in: o Refrigeration cycle simulations and airflow modeling. o Design improvement recommendations based on CAE results. o Independently handling medium-to-high complexity tasks. • Experience in OEM/Tier-1 environments preferred.
Software Skills Required • Primary: GT-SUITE • Others: MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) • Exposure to CAD/PLM tools (CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE preferred)
Experience Preferred • Exposure to physical testing methods for refrigeration/HVAC systems. • Familiarity with OEM CAE workflows and quality processes. • Understanding of IT/PLM systems.

Education Qualification • Mandatory: BE / B. Tech in Mechanical / Thermal / Automotive Engineering • Preferred: ME / M. Tech in Thermal Engineering / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
