About the role
Role & responsibilities The Technical Project Manager (TPM) Lighting Systems will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of vehicle lighting programs (Exterior & Interior), ensuring alignment with cost, quality, performance, and timeline targets . The role demands strong cross-functional leadership, supplier management, and technical expertise in both mechanical and electronic aspects of automotive lighting systems Preferred candidate profile 1. Program & Project Management Lead end-to-end lighting system development from concept to SOP and post-launch support . Define and manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables aligned to vehicle program timelines. Track TDKO/TMKO deliverables , identify risks, and implement mitigation plans. Ensure on-time, first-time-right delivery across all project phases. 2. Technical Leadership Lighting Systems Own system-level design and integration of: Headlamp, Tail lamp, DRL, Fog lamps, Interior & Ambient lighting Drive concept development, feasibility studies, and system architecture definition . Define and finalize product specifications and RFQs considering vehicle-level requirements. Ensure vehicle-level integration with ECUs (BCM, VCU, HMI) and architecture alignment. Lead new feature development (e.g., DRL signatures, adaptive lighting, matrix beam). 3. Supplier & Stakeholder Management Coordinate with: Internal teams (Styling, BIW, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality) External suppliers and engineering partners Lead technical reviews, supplier selection, and design sign-offs . Monitor supplier performance and drive technical delivery from RFQ to SOP . The role demands strong cross-functional leadership, supplier management, and technical expertise in both mechanical and electronic aspects of automotive lighting systems Experience & Q ualification :- Experience: 10–15 years in Automotive Lighting Domain Mandatory Exposure: Complete vehicle lifecycle (Concept SOP Field support) OEM or Tier-1 supplier environment Education: B.E./B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Key Responsibilities: 1. Design, Validation & Compliance Ensure design validation plan (DVP) execution and product validation sign-off . Ensure compliance with: AIS / ECE regulations EMI/EMC standards Functional safety (ISO 26262) Review and approve: DFMEA, DFM, DFA at system & component level Analyze testing results and drive design improvements. 5. Electronics & System Integration Ensure integration of: LEDs, drivers, controllers, sensors Oversee electronics architecture and diagnostics strategy . Validate lighting ECU functionality and vehicle-level interaction . 6. Engineering Excellence & Cost Optimization Drive initiatives on: VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) Weight reduction Cost optimization Ensure 100% BOM accuracy and PLM releases (Teamcenter) . Benchmark latest lighting technologies (LED, Matrix, Laser). 7. Manufacturing & Launch Support Support tooling, manufacturing feasibility, and assembly integration . Handle launch issues, field failures, and quality concerns . Provide post-launch engineering support for improvements.
