About the role
Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer with deep expertise in Tableau migrations , specifically transitioning Tableau On-Prem environments to Tableau SaaS (Tableau Cloud) . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience executing end-to-end migration projects, strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, and practical exposure to AWS services. This role requires both technical execution and migration planning skills, working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth and secure transition. Key Responsibilities: Lead and execute end-to-end Tableau On-Prem to SaaS migration projects , including assessment, planning, execution, validation, and post-migration support. Perform detailed analysis of existing Tableau Server environments (workbooks, data sources, users, schedules, permissions, extensions). Design and implement migration strategies, including content rationalization and performance optimization. Migrate Tableau content to Tableau Cloud , ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. Reconfigure authentication, authorization, row-level security, and user access post-migration. Integrate Tableau Cloud with cloud-based data sources and services hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) . Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems. Automate migration, monitoring, and validation tasks using scripts or Tableau APIs where applicable. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and business teams to meet compliance and governance requirements. Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and post-migration support. Required Skills & Qualifications 8+ years of overall experience in BI, analytics, or data engineering roles Hands-on experience with Tableau On-Prem to Tableau SaaS (Tableau Cloud) migrations . Expertise in Tableau Server architecture, Tableau Cloud, and Tableau administration. Hands-on experience with AWS , including services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, and networking concepts. Experience migrating and managing cloud-based data sources (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc. – as applicable). Strong understanding of security, authentication (SSO, SAML), and governance in Tableau environments. Experience using Tableau REST APIs,, or scripting (Python, Shell) for automation is a plus. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Nice to Have Tableau certifications (Server, Cloud, or Data Analyst). Prior experience in large-scale enterprise BI migrations. Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
