Job Description:

Job Overview The Sr. R&D Product development Engineer will be responsible to develop new products and sustenance of existing product lines including Terminal and Connectors & Accessories of ICT business unit at TE Connectivity. This position Leads/support small and medium sized NPI/ NPD , projects and/ or Supports Advance development projects to improve technology readiness level Job Requirements

Lead product design and development using engineering tools (e.g., Creo) and domain expertise.

Support New Product Development (NPD), cost optimization, and VAVE initiatives.

Drive customer engagement through VOC collection, technical proposals, and design reviews.

Develop DVP&R, DFMEA, and support PFMEA activities.

Own design releases, BOM management, and product data management.

Ensure successful NPI transfer to manufacturing with a focus on first-time-right design.

Design test fixtures/jigs and support product validation activities.

Conduct benchmarking and reverse engineering to identify product improvement opportunities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to deliver technical solutions.

Support product compliance, certifications, and environmental requirements.

Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, site visits, and technology discussions.

Monitor industry trends and contribute to technology roadmaps and innovation initiatives.

What your background should look like EDUCATION & CRITICAL EXPERIENCE

Mechanical or equivalent Engineering Degree with minimum 8 years of related product development experience.

Master’s degree or higher or equivalent may be preferred with minimum 5 years of experience in related fields.

Good knowledge in manufacturing process (machining, molding, stamping, plating, etc.) will be a plus.

Good knowledge in material (metal/plastic) properties will be a plus.

Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, 6sigma, DOE, 8D…) will be a plus

COMPETENCE

Foundational:

Fluent communication skills facilitate collaboration with own team, customers, internal business leaders and technology leaders to create value.

Individual must be self-motivated and require minimum supervision, have strong planning skills and be able to deal with and balance multiple competing priorities.

Functional:

Working knowledge of new product development in line with market needs

Working knowledge of simulation, design for manufacturability, product life cycle, product/materials development in manufacturing and prototyping

Working knowledge of Creo/Pro-E 3D design, GD&T essential.

Lean DfSS or DMAIC 6-sigma black or green belt are added advantage

Experience in SAP product data management environment and with Windchill preferred
