Software Architect - MERN Stack

As a Software Architect at Techdome, you will play a crucial role in owning the architecture behind healthcare and payment products at scale. Unlike traditional architect roles where you stay away from the code, at Techdome, you will be accountable for the architecture and stay close enough to the code to ensure its integrity. You will have the opportunity to make critical decisions on how healthcare and payment systems are built, and will be responsible for defending these decisions in various scenarios, from code reviews to incident reviews. Key Responsibilities: - Own the architecture of healthcare and payment platforms, including system design, service boundaries, data modeling, API contracts, and non-functional requirements. - Design HIPAA-grade and PCI-aware systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. - Define and implement the MERN + cloud foundation, utilizing technologies such as MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js, and cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Make technical decisions with significant impact, such as build vs. buy, monolith vs. services, and sync vs. event-driven architectures. - Elevate engineering standards across products through code review best practices, reference architectures, and reusable patterns. - Incorporate AI as a fundamental component in system design, ensuring seamless integration with AI tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot. - Provide mentorship and technical leadership to grow senior engineers into leads and set the technical direction for the team. Qualifications Required: - Minimum 8 years of experience in building production software with a focus on system design. - Proficiency in MERN stack, including hands-on experience in Node.js and React. - Strong cloud architecture skills with expertise in at least one major provider. - Demonstrated experience in designing systems for regulated domains like healthcare (HIPAA/PHI) or payments (PCI-DSS). - Ability to make critical decisions and communicate effectively with team members. - Prior experience in healthcare compliance, payment systems, event-driven architecture, and multi-product environments is a plus.
