Staff Software Engineer (React Front End)

Role Overview: As a Staff Frontend Engineer at Tekion, you will be the technical anchor for the frontend capability. Your role will involve defining the frontend architecture, establishing the component design system, owning the Next.js application structure, driving performance standards, and mentoring Senior and mid-level frontend engineers. You will be responsible for building complex, data-intensive UI surfaces using React + Next.js stack integrated with Elasticsearch-powered search and streaming AI responses. Key Responsibilities: - Own and evolve the frontend architecture by defining the Next.js App Router structure, component boundaries, state management strategy (Redux), and data-fetching patterns, following hexagonal UI principles. - Design and build technically complex UI surfaces including real-time attribution dashboards, AI-powered campaign builders, Elasticsearch-backed customer search with faceted filtering, and platform-embedded opportunity cards. - Establish frontend performance standards by setting Core Web Vitals targets, bundle size budgets, SSR/SSG strategy with Next.js, lazy loading, and virtualization for large data tables. - Lead Next.js architecture decisions such as Pages Router tradeoffs, React Server Components applicability, streaming SSR for AI-generated content, and API route design. - Integrate AI-native frontend patterns like streaming LLM responses into UI components, real-time score updates from Redis/Aerospike via SSE, and Elasticsearch typeahead search. - Drive code quality through design reviews, code reviews, pair programming, and frontend-specific engineering standards. - Mentor Senior and mid-level frontend engineers, setting high standards for component design, test coverage, and performance discipline. - Collaborate closely with backend Staff Engineers to define API contracts and with designers to implement pixel-perfect, accessible UIs. Qualifications Required: - 8+ years of frontend engineering experience with expertise in React and Next.js in production systems. - Proficiency in Next.js 14+ App Router, React Server Components, streaming SSR, and static generation. - Strong TypeScript expertise ensuring type safety across component props, API contracts, and Redux store shape. - Deep knowledge of Redux including slice design, selector optimization, middleware patterns, and RTK Query for data fetching. - Experience building data-intensive dashboards with real-time data and chart libraries. - Familiarity with integrating Elasticsearch-powered search UIs and optimizing frontend performance. - Background in automotive retail, eCommerce analytics, or SaaS BI/reporting platforms. - Experience mentoring engineers and establishing component design systems. - Knowledge of streaming LLM/AI-generated content into React UI components and micro-frontend patterns. - Familiarity with Storybook for component documentation and visual regression testing.
