What to Expect

Join the electric revolution as a Power Module Mechanical Design Engineer at Tesla. You will lead power module design, incorporating packaging assembly processes and spearhead product from design to builds. Your work will have a direct impact on the future of sustainable energy, and we're looking for a motivated and skilled engineer to lead the way.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirement and develop power packaging solutions that meet those needs

  • Mechanical design and optimization of power modules. Optimization considering thermal, mechanical, assembly tolerance stacks, design for manufacturing (DFM)

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify and implement new packaging materials and technologies

  • Create, manage release and control package drawings

  • Ensure all packaging design meet industry standards and regulations. Work with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of packaging materials

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to packaging design and assembly

  • Support assembly equipment mechanical tooling design

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of full-time industry experience in power module design and optimization

  • An interdisciplinary mindset with an ability to understand first principle and interactions between thermal, mechanical, fluid and electrical physics

  • Knowledge of tolerance stacks, design for performance manufacturing (DFM), design for test (DFT), design for reliability. Ability to lead and/or contribute to DFMEA and PFMEA

  • Experience with CAD modeling (SolidWorks, CATIA or similar), finite element analysis (FEA) & multi-physics simulations

  • Experience with environmental, reliability, safety and industry standards for automotive product

  • Assembly process knowledge and material science knowledge of materials used in electronics packaging (ceramics, attaches, encapsulation, wire bonding, adhesives, etc.)

  • $109,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
