About the role
As a Technical Lead - Mechanical Design at Thales in Bangalore, India, your primary purpose will be to contribute to the hardware mechanical engineering activities required for designing, developing, and qualifying various components such as Interface Test Adaptor (ITA), Functional Test Fixture for Electronics Unit Under Test (UUT), Special Purpose Machines, Precision Tooling Systems, Standard 19-inch rack systems, enclosures, and associated hardware building blocks. You will also provide technical guidance to the team on mechanical design-related topics. Key Responsibilities and Tasks: - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams locally and globally to design and realize products. - Understand customer needs and formalize mechanical design requirements. - Detail necessary mechanical hardware component and sub-system requirements. - Define the mechanical architecture compliant with product/system requirements. - Support estimation and planning of mechanical activities. - Comply with applicable organization-specific product design and development processes. - Define the mechanical architecture of PCB & PCBA, harness routing arrangements, and perform 3DCAD design. - Provide design solutions for thermal and vibration requirements, including material/finish selection. - Perform necessary design verification through various means such as tolerance stackup analysis, thermal/structural calculations, stability check, material compliance analysis, etc. - Collaborate with Analysis engineers for software-based analysis of the design. - Generate manufacturing drawings, BOM, and other documentations. - Manage design data compliant with organization's configuration management practices. - Contribute to necessary project technical and milestone reviews. - Collaborate with external partners for successful design, manufacturing, and testing. - Participate in integration and validation phases of designed systems/products. - Contribute to skill development and continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical engineering discipline. Skills Required: Essential: - Proficiency in CAD tools, particularly CATIA or Equivalent CAD Tool. - Good experience in CAD modeling, drafting, and best practices. - Strong understanding of Mechanical Fundamentals. - Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Testability, and Maintainability concepts. - Familiarity with Industry Standards/Specifications. - Experience in Product design and Project Management. Desirable: - Experience in CE certification of test bench or similar systems. - Knowledge of product environmental qualification.
