Design And Release Engineer

Position: Design Release Engineer Exterior Trims Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu Experience: 310 Years Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary We are looking for a Design Release Engineer Exterior Trims with experience in automotive plastic components and product development. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, releasing, and supporting exterior trim parts throughout the product lifecycle while ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and timing requirements. Key Responsibilities Design and release automotive Exterior Trim components such as: Front & Rear Bumpers Grilles Wheel Arch Claddings Rocker Panels Spoilers Garnishes Cowl Top Pillar Trims Manage component development from concept to production. Prepare and release engineering drawings, BOMs, and CAD data. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Styling, CAE, Manufacturing, Quality, Suppliers, and Program Management. Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up, and root cause analysis. Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and production launch activities. Ensure adherence to APQP, PPAP, and engineering change management processes. Resolve engineering issues related to design, tooling, manufacturing, and supplier concerns. Required Skills Strong knowledge of Plastic Product Design and Automotive Exterior Trim systems. Experience in design release activities and engineering change management. Hands-on experience with CATIA V5 (mandatory). Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, PPAP, and tolerance stack-up analysis. Understanding of injection molding processes and plastic manufacturing. Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
