About the role
As an Associate Platform Engineer in the Productivity, Collaboration, Security, and Governance team, you will enable pro-developers, modernize applications, secure integrations, and scale solutions across the organization. You will ensure that collaboration technologies built on SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Azure remain secure, compliant, and governed while enabling high quality digital experiences for our global workforce. Duties & Responsibilities: The Associate Platform Engineer, operating within the SAFe framework and reporting to the ITSDS Team Lead, will play a critical role in designing, engineering, and optimizing modern collaboration solutions on SharePoint Online and associated Microsoft 365 platforms. This position requires close engagement with pro developers, system owners, and cross-functional IT stakeholders to enable secure, scalable, and innovative outcomes. Responsibilities and skills include, but are not limited to: Manage, architect, and optimize SharePoint Online as a modern application platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and adherence to governance frameworks. Engineer and support SPFx solutions, React-based custom components, extensions, and integrations. Leverage Microsoft Graph API and SharePoint REST API to enhance automation, reporting, integration, and lifecycle management. Design and implement solutions using Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, and other cloud-native services to extend SharePoint capabilities. Design and deliver automation and workflow solutions using Power Automate, PowerShell, and Graph API to streamline team and platform operations. Modernize legacy SharePoint applications into SharePoint Online, SPFx, Power Platform, or Azure-native solutions. Support integration of SharePoint with internal and external systems, ensuring secure handling of identities, tokens, and access flows. Assist developers with best practice development patterns, solution deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling. Ensure all SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 solutions meet organizational security, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Partner with cybersecurity teams to design, implement, and maintain platform level controls and monitoring. Maintain a strong understanding of identities, authentication protocols, and secure integration patterns across M365 and Azure AD. Monitor platform health, usage trends, site governance violations, and capacity metrics, recommending improvements. Support project execution, documentation, knowledge transfer, and transition to operations. Develop Power BI dashboards to provide insights into usage, adoption, operations, and platform health. Engage stakeholders, collect requirements, prepare solution proposals, and communicate technical concepts clearly. Provide strategic guidance to teams adopting SharePoint-based solutions or migrating legacy platforms. Technical Competencies: Expertise in SharePoint Online, SPFx development, React JS, SharePoint REST API, Microsoft Graph API. Hands-on experience with Power Automate, C#, .Net, PowerShell scripting, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, SQL, and DevOps automation. Strong understanding of SharePoint architecture, information design, site lifecycle management, and large-scale tenant administration. Experience integrating SharePoint with other platforms and systems using secure identity patterns. Strong foundation in Microsoft 365 security, data protection, compliance, and secure DevOps practices. Should be able to handle tenant-level site provisioning automation, Information governance, and Records Management (retention, labeling, sensitivity) Knowledge of systems administration, capacity planning, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and operational monitoring in enterprise environments. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git repositories, deployment automation, and application lifecycle management. Familiarity with Conditional Access, Sensitivity labels & DLP and practice Secure-by-default design mindset Required Qualifications: Masters degree with 5 years of experience or a bachelor s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience administering and building solutions on Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online Proven experience delivering SPFx, React JS, Graph API, and automation solutions Strong background in security, compliance, and governance across Microsoft 365 platforms Programming and scripting expertise (PowerShell, JavaScript/TypeScript, Power Platform; Python optional) Migration tooling knowledge (ShareGate, AvePoint, etc.) Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills Ability to work within SAFe or similar Agile delivery methodologies Strong customer focus and ability to manage client expectations Desired Certifications Microsoft 365 Certified: Developer Associate, or Teams Administrator Associate, or Messaging Administrator Associate, or Security Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or Azure Administrator Associate 1.
