Staff Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary You will be joining a growing R&D team in Hyderabad as a Staff Mechanical Engineer, supporting sustaining engineering, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), and lifecycle management for KingFisher sample preparation systems and Detection instruments. Your responsibilities will include acting as a technical lead for mechanical engineering initiatives, driving design improvements, and ensuring robust mechanical system performance. Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Engineering Leadership - Act as a technical lead for mechanical systems and subsystems. - Lead design, analysis, and troubleshooting of mechanical components. - Drive root cause investigations for mechanical and system-level issues. - Support design trade-offs, material selection, and tolerance analysis. - Sustaining Engineering & Lifecycle Management - Lead mechanical workstreams for sustaining activities. - Ensure designs meet reliability, durability, and manufacturability requirements. - Partner with global teams to maintain product continuity. - Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) - Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities within mechanical designs. - Collaborate with sourcing and manufacturing for evaluation of alternatives. - Drive design for cost and scalability across platforms. - System Integration & Technical Contribution - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust system integration. - Contribute to system requirements, interface definitions, and verification activities. - Provide input to technology and product roadmap discussions. - Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Collaborate with global R&D teams to support technical alignment. - Partner with Product Management to align engineering execution with product priorities. - Interface with various departments to resolve issues and improve product performance. - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building mechanical engineering capability. Minimum Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred. - 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for complex products or instrumentation. - Strong experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and tolerance analysis. - Proven ability in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and design improvements. - Experience working in cross-functional and global engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with life sciences or analytical instrumentation. - Experience with VAVE, cost optimization, and design for manufacturability. - Familiarity with thermal analysis, fluidics integration, or precision mechanisms. - Experience with regulated product development environments. - Ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
