What You'll Do

Lead and direct a survey crew of two or more team members on a variety of field assignments

Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, construction staking, and other survey types

Operate survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, and levels

Ensure accuracy and quality of field data, notes, and sketches

Make field decisions and provide direction to crew members to ensure efficient project execution

Coordinate daily with project managers and office staff to meet project scope, schedule, and quality goals

Maintain and transport survey equipment safely and ensure proper operation in the field

Communicate project status and field updates regularly

What You Bring: High school diploma or equivalent required
-
3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief preferred
-
Prior experience conducting boundary and topographic surveys required
-
Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction staking, and Carlson SurvCE preferred
-
Working knowledge of data collectors, robotic total stations, GPS equipment, and digital levels

Valid driver’s license required (this position requires driving)

Strong math skills and attention to detail

Experience preparing detailed field notes and sketches

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow

Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday–Thursday 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with occasional overnight travel

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and outdoor environments

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to climb hills and walk long distances across varied terrain

Ability to traverse wooded areas, construction sites, and undeveloped land
-
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds

Ability to work in environments that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, and yellow jackets

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
