About the role
As an Engineering Leader Backend at ThoughtSpot, you will be leading and growing a team based in Bangalore. You will work with a team of world-class engineers in the Search Data team to build ThoughtSpot's relational search engine and various other engines and infrastructures. Your role will involve managing and mentoring backend engineers, driving product quality and stability, and building a culture of operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: - Manage and mentor backend engineers to enhance their effectiveness and support their career growth. - Drive product quality and stability by actively participating in code reviews, design reviews, and debugging distributed systems issues. - Establish a culture of operational excellence focusing on observability, performance, scalability, cloud cost, and security. - Architect, design, develop, and operationalize high-performance, scalable, resilient, and secure systems. - Collaborate with product and engineering teams to set KPIs for services, oversee end-to-end delivery, and manage the lifecycle. - Identify and implement appropriate technologies, protocols, and frameworks for efficient solutions. - Define technical strategies and roadmaps for improving release and deployment velocity, scale, performance, and reliability. - Provide technical leadership, lead initiatives across the global team, recruit, inspire, and build world-class teams. - Develop leaders and foster a culture of engineering excellence and execution, ensuring on-time delivery with top quality. Qualifications Required: - BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of software development experience and 3+ years of team leadership experience. - Prior experience in building SaaS platforms and applications. - Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development. - Expertise in architecting secure, highly available, and performant systems. - Proficiency in programming languages like C++, Java, Python, or Go. - Self-motivated with a passion for solving complex problems. - Experience in hiring, managing, and growing teams. - Strong leadership skills with a focus on team building in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. - Action-oriented, resourceful, customer-experience driven, and committed to engineering excellence. In addition to the above information, the role offered at ThoughtSpot is a hybrid position, allowing for a balance between in-person collaboration and remote work. Spotters assigned to an office are encouraged to spend at least three days per week in the office, combining the benefits of in-office collaboration with individual and team flexibility.
