About the role
Role: AIX System Administrator Duration: 1-year contract, likely to extend Location: REMOTE ONLY ON W2 Job description for AIX System Administrator Position Consultant Responsibilities: Regular System Administrator activities Automate software lifecycle management for Operating system components and support software Applies analytics on past data like incidents and patterns for predicting issues and takes proactive actions Experience in identifying toil in Operating Systems and Build self-services and contribute towards developing coding best practices Develop automated process for lifecycle management, OS software management, and configuration management Initial work schedule: Monday – Friday, then will transition to either Tuesday-Saturday OR Sunday-Thursday Requirements: 8+ years professional experience in the area of Unix Operating system technologies Experience with operating system and clustering component configuration 3 - 5 years' experience with development of automations in OS administration and peripheral infrastructure technologies including storage and network components. Strong experience with automation and orchestration tools, including Ansible and Python, PowerShell, Shell scripting (Bourne and Bourne relatives), etc., and previous work with Agile methodologies Must be able to work both collaboratively and independently and take initiative to identify, track, and resolve issues Expert knowledge of AIX LVM, LPAR profile creation, configuration, PowerVM administration, AIX OS installation (via NIM) and configuration, OS user, group creation, administration, HMC administration. Strong comfort level with BigFix and NIM administration and automation, Power Systems firmware upgrades, SSH/SFTP client/server administration, SUDO and Netbackup client configuration. Solid foundation with network concepts and AIX, VIOS network administration (Ethernet, VLANs, TCP/IP, 802.1q, vSwitches, SEAs), NFS client/server administration, SUDO configuration, LDAP client administration. In addition to experience working with Unix technologies, the following skills will be required.
